Most Important date
@ 2009-08-19 – 14:49:13
The date was 1st Aug 2009. I attended my family wedding ceremony in Ipoh, Malaysia. We are just ordinary people so does the wedding. What makes this date a memorable happenings ?. This is my birthday. Which means an increase of complete one year to my age.
All along I celebrate this dates many times. Meaning that it come every year and and every other years. My celebrations more often than not ,were sometime done quitely. My father and mother think that birthday was not important. Thus they were having a very short memory of their children's birthday. So I have to live with it. At this era birthday was not important.
Come my wife and my children. They remember my birthday. Sometime they present me with gifts. My wife have got one weird theory about birthday. This is the day one will passed away. So much so that she does not encourage me to move about. She lets me to just stay at home. But that above wedding I have to go. I did not mind anyway If I left this world. I had lived more than half a century now.
My dreams were not big. But at birthday it comes very clear in my mind.. When I was 10 years old I wanted a bike. My father cant afford. when I was 11 years old my grandfather gave me an old bike . That was good enough.
During my secondry school I was crazy to get a scholarship. Finally I got one. I was called 'junior scholarship' It was just enough to by extra reading book.
At the end of my secondry school I failed to continue my higher study. Every birthday this feeling comes strongly. Sometime after that I kept on dreaming at night I was in the classroom. But I continue working as clerk and keep on dreaming. Some how I succed to be admitted to University Utara Malaysia, full time. and got a bachelor degree.
People out there celebrate bithday with a number of friends, family and all. Happy birthday song, blowing candles and having a good time is a norm.
But I celebrate it differently. -
The Small Old Town
@ 2009-07-26 – 17:54:25
That was during middle 1950. Infrastuctures was basic. The road leading out of Malim Nawar was one. only one. Cars?, you can count easily. Count your fingers but only one hand.
Basically middle class Malaysian own that much of cars in one family today. Till now I remember my uncle visits my mother using car. For that visit my head swells. Because of that car. I still remember the ' Morris Minor' the British car it looks so beautiful at those time.
Yes the majority use bicycles. Hence no road leading to my house. Only bicycle tracks. Of course it was enough at those time to carry any body to Kampar town and nearby village like Kota Bharu and Kuala Dipang. But most of us- like today- every body were happy and some not so happy. Money was no problem because every body had very little money. So nobody worry about money.
We dont have to worry about overweight. Most of us were slim. That was Malim Nawar a small town with tin mines ponds. Each ponds equals to 10 football fields.
My Kampong now was mined so that now it become a very small village with 14 houses only. -
SURROUNDING TOWN
@ 2009-03-30 – 10:20:30
Kampar being the nearest town provides us with the feeling of a little change in our daily mood. Everyday looking at Malim Nawar town would be dull moments. Those time especially before the 60's secondary school only found at Kampar. A town 15 minits by bicycles using the railway sideway track and 20 minutes by car through federal road. Besides going to school Kampar town accomodates better shoping facilities, more choices and better bargains. What more, where else could we find Americans films, Kampar prvides few cinimas. That were we heard film star like John Whine and rock singer like Cliff Richard and Elvice Presley.
A number of peoples from Malim Nawar made their way to universities in Malaysia. Finally most of them migrate from the small town to a bigger cities like Kuala lumpur. -
Entrance
@ 2008-12-04 – 09:45:56
Straight ahead a very small town of Malim Nawar. A junction at left is the main entrance to Kampar 6 KM, Gopeng 10KM and Ipoh 36KM. Malim Nawar originated from the name of a learned and a very religious man called Mualim Anwar. Having a profound number of religious students it was once said that food was barely enough for 4 students(one day) however miracle emerge and the food can accomodate more than 30 students. Now Malim Nawar remain a small town. Nothing to be proud of, but it was here Perak Hydro an electricity hydro set up by British from England. Perak Hydro itself resembles small town but with a very steady infrastructures with worker's house accupying more than 100 barracts. 20 bunglows for the senior staffs. As for the managers mostly British 7 luxurious bonglows could easily seen from my kampong. A hugh contrast to my tiny Kampong Bata that had nighter electricity nor water pipe. But we had slight flood of light from Perak Hydro electricity at night. Perak Hydro supplied electricity for tin mines belong to Chinese towkey in Kinta Valley (Ipoh). It was here the British entrepreneur did tin mine dredging. A big scale at that. Together with Chinese open dredging tin mining.
The Perak Hydro and British tin dredging however accomodate employmens for the local. Now both are history the Perak Hydro was taken by TNB and tin mine as every body know was a history.
One upon a time Perak Hydro as seen from Kg Bata

KENANGAN ABADI
